This Stamp Booklet contains 10 Self-Adhesive Stamps in an assortment of all six denominations of 40c, 80c, 90c, $1.30, $1.50 and $2.00. This fold-out 'The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring' Booklet and Stamps were created by Sacha Lees at Weta Workshop, and was a popular item as it contained a well thought out assortment of denominations for domestic and international postage. As with all the 2001 philatelic items, these Stamp Booklets were available from NZ Post shops.
Front cover of stamp booklet depicts Gandalf having plucked Bilbo's 'magic' ring out of the fire to determine if it is truly the One Ring (also known as the Ruling Ring of the Dark Lord). The rear cover (shown at right) depicts a scene of The Fellowship floating down the Anduin River, along with background details about the making of the motion picture trilogy.
Notice that the self-adhesive stamps themselves are slightly smaller ( 1 x 1 1/2"; 26 x 37 mm) than the corresponding gummed stamps (1 x 2"; 25 x 50 mm), and are a markedly different aspect ratio - as a result they're closer to a traditional portrait-style frame. This Stamp Booklet like the rest of the 2001 Official 'The Fellowship of the Ring' issue was only marketed in New Zealand and available for a limited time. Additional Stamp Booklets will be released to coincide with 'The Two Towers' and 'The Return of the King'.
